Swedish Relaxation

Swedish relaxation massage, is a popular type of therapeutic massage that involves the use of gentle to firm pressure on the muscles and joints, combined with long strokes, kneading, and circular movements. The aim of Swedish relaxation massage is to promote relaxation, improve circulation, relieve muscle tension and pain, and enhance overall wellbeing.

  • During a Swedish relaxation massage, our massage therapist will use various techniques, including effleurage (long, sweeping strokes), petrissage (kneading and squeezing the muscles), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (circular movements to create heat and loosen knots), and vibration (rapid shaking).

Our massage therapist will typically use massage oil or lotion on the skin to help reduce friction and allow for smooth, gliding strokes. The client will usually lie on a massage table, either partially or fully undressed, depending on their comfort level, and covered with a sheet or towel.

Swedish relaxation massage is often considered a gentle and soothing form of massage, although the pressure can be adjusted to suit the client's preferences and needs. It is a great option for those who are new to massage therapy, as well as for those looking to promote relaxation and reduce stress and tension in their muscles and joints.

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage is a type of therapeutic massage that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue in the body. It uses slow, firm pressure and techniques such as kneading, friction, and stripping to target specific areas of tension and discomfort.

  • During a deep tissue massage, our massage therapist will work to release chronic muscle tension, adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue), and knots (also known as trigger points) that can develop in the muscles due to injury, overuse, or poor posture. This type of massage can be intense and may cause some discomfort, but it should not be unbearably painful.

Our massage therapist may use their hands, fingers, forearms, elbows, or even specialized tools to apply the pressure needed to reach the deeper layers of tissue. They may also ask the client to breathe deeply during the massage, which can help to release tension and promote relaxation.

Deep tissue massage is often recommended for people who have chronic pain, limited mobility, or tight muscles, as well as for those recovering from injuries or surgeries. It can help to improve circulation, reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and promote relaxation and overall wellbeing.

It's important to note that deep tissue massage is not suitable for everyone, especially for those who have certain medical conditions or injuries.

Hot Stone Therapy

Hot stone therapy is a type of massage therapy that involves the use of heated stones carefully placed on the body and also used as a massage medium to help relax and soothe the muscles.

The stones are smooth and flat, and made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat well. The stones are used gently and in combination with the hands

  • During a hot stone therapy session, our massage therapist will heat the stones in a specialized heater, usually to a temperature of around 50 degrees Celsius. We will then place the stones on various points of the body, such as the back, legs, and arms, and use the stones to apply pressure and massage the muscles.

The heat from the stones helps to increase blood flow and relax the muscles, allowing our massage therapist to work more deeply and effectively. Our therapist may also use their hands to massage the muscles, combining the heat from the stones with other massage techniques to further promote relaxation and relieve tension.

Hot stone therapy is often recommended for people who experience muscle tension, stress, or pain, as well as those who have poor circulation or who simply want to relax and unwind. It can help to reduce muscle stiffness, improve flexibility, and promote a sense of calm and wellbeing.

It's important to note that hot stone therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially for those who have certain medical conditions or who are pregnant.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy massage is a type of massage therapy that incorporates the use of essential oils to enhance the therapeutic benefits of the massage.

The essential oils are typically added to a carrier oil, such as almond or jojoba oil, and then applied to the skin during the massage. This infusion augments the benefits of relaxation massage.

  • During an aromatherapy massage, our massage therapist will use a variety of techniques to help relax the muscles and promote overall wellbeing. The essential oils are chosen based on the specific needs and preferences of the individual, and can be tailored to address issues such as stress, anxiety, pain, or insomnia.

The aromatherapy massage may begin with our massage therapist asking the individual to inhale the essential oils directly or indirectly to help induce relaxation and create a sense of calm. Our massage therapist will then apply the diluted essential oils to the skin, using the massage techniques to help the oils penetrate deep into the muscles and tissues.

Aromatherapy massage is believed to have a number of potential benefits, including reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleep quality, relieving muscle tension and pain, and promoting relaxation and overall wellbeing. It can also enhance the effects of the massage itself by helping to create a deeper sense of relaxation and tranquility.

It's important to note that aromatherapy massage may not be suitable for everyone, especially for those who have certain medical conditions such as skin conditions might cause irritation or who are pregnant.
